WoW Midnight Season 2 Guide: Raid, Mythic+, Delves, Rewards and Everything New
The venom is spreading, an ancient power is awakening, and Azeroth’s champions are preparing for their next major war.
World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 2 arrives alongside the competitive content of Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek, bringing a new eight-boss raid, a completely refreshed Mythic+ rotation, a dangerous island zone, additional Delves, a new type of scalable world-boss encounter and major changes to endgame gearing.
The update continues the story of Zul’jan and Zul’jarra as the mysterious fog surrounding an island east of Zul’Aman finally disappears. What waits beyond that mist is not another forgotten ruin—it is an ecosystem twisted by poison, ancient hatred and the influence of Ula’tek.
This complete Midnight Season 2 guide covers everything officially confirmed so far, including the release schedule, the Coiled Isle, the Venomous Abyss raid, all eight Mythic+ dungeons, Delves, Lairs, Prey, PvP, class sets, gearing changes, Housing updates and how to prepare before the new season begins.
When Does WoW Midnight Season 2 Start?
Blizzard has not announced the exact launch date for Patch 12.1 or Midnight Season 2.
What has been officially confirmed is that the rollout will happen in two stages:
Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek launches first.
Midnight Season 2 begins one week later.
The initial content update will introduce the new campaign, the Coiled Isle and Altar of Fangs up to Heroic difficulty. One week later, the new raid, Mythic+ rotation, PvP season, Bountiful Delves and other competitive endgame activities will become available.
As of July 27, 2026, Curse of Ula’tek remains on the Public Test Realm. Players should therefore treat balance numbers, class-set bonuses and reward values as subject to change.
What Is Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek?
Curse of Ula’tek continues the story of Zul’jan, whose actions have released a powerful ancient creature associated with hatred, corruption and venom.
Players will accompany Zul’jarra as she pursues her brother to a previously hidden island off the eastern coast of Zul’Aman. During the campaign, players will uncover the buried history of the Coiled Isle, discover what was imprisoned there and learn who was abandoned when the island disappeared behind the mist.
The patch introduces:
New campaign chapters.
The Coiled Isle outdoor zone.
The Venomous Abyss raid.
The Altar of Fangs dungeon.
Eight Season 2 Mythic+ dungeons.
Three additional Delves.
A new Nemesis Delve.
Instanced Lair encounters.
Prey Season 2.
New class sets and balancing changes.
Endgame gearing improvements.
Major Housing features.
Battle.net and Discord guild-chat integration.
Quality-of-life and interface improvements.
This is not a small seasonal refresh. Curse of Ula’tek is shaping up to be a full endgame expansion for Midnight.
The Coiled Isle: Midnight’s New Zone
The Coiled Isle is a corrupted island filled with poisonous waters, venomous creatures and remnants of a long-buried civilization.
The zone lies east of Zul’Aman and becomes accessible when the supernatural fog surrounding it finally lifts. Beneath the island’s mountain, players will discover new activities designed for solo adventurers, organized groups and open-world progression.
Vaults of Atal’Utek
The Vaults of Atal’Utek provide challenging group content and rotating public events.
Completing these events builds toward a larger boss encounter, creating an activity loop similar to other progressive outdoor events but with the poisonous identity of the Coiled Isle.
Players will also have access to a zone-specific talent tree. Its perks include direct player-power upgrades and quality-of-life bonuses, such as reducing the strength of the island’s venom effects.
Curse Surges
Curse Surges periodically activate at five rotating locations across the Coiled Isle.
These events summon rare elite enemies. Defeating the active rare unlocks Cursed Fishing at that location, connecting combat, exploration and profession-style activities within the same outdoor system.
Tokka and the Local Story
Players will meet Tokka, a tortollan sea captain with his own local storyline.
Adventurers will be able to increase their reputation with Tokka’s crew while learning how to fish in the corrupted waters surrounding the island. This storyline should provide additional rewards and context for the Coiled Isle beyond the central Zul’jan campaign.
The Venomous Abyss Raid
The main attraction of Midnight Season 2 is The Venomous Abyss, a new raid featuring eight boss encounters.
The raid culminates in a battle against Ula’tek, the ancient entity unleashed by Zul’jan. Blizzard describes Ula’tek as a creature of hatred, corruption and venom, establishing the raid as one of Midnight’s darkest and most hostile environments.
Venomous Abyss Bosses
The PTR raid-testing schedule has revealed the following encounters:
Nek’zali the Soulcoiler
The Lost Explorers
Entombed Sentinels
Sszorak
Vashnik the Malignant
The Twin Fangs
The Coiled Altar
Ula’tek
The first seven encounters have appeared in Blizzard’s testing schedule, while Ula’tek is officially confirmed as the final boss. Encounter names and ordering may still change before launch.
What to Expect From the Raid
The boss names suggest a mixture of serpent priests, corrupted guardians, multi-enemy council encounters and ancient troll machinery.
Players should prepare for mechanics built around:
Poison management.
Stacking damage-over-time effects.
Target swapping.
Multiple simultaneous enemies.
Movement-heavy positioning.
Add control.
Defensive cooldown coordination.
Encounters that punish poor dispel management.
The exact mechanics remain in testing, but the theme makes one thing clear: the Venomous Abyss will not allow raid groups to stand still and tunnel the boss.
Altar of Fangs: The New Season 2 Dungeon
Altar of Fangs is a completely new three-boss dungeon introduced with Curse of Ula’tek.
The dungeon will initially be available through Heroic difficulty when Patch 12.1 launches. It will then enter Mythic 0 and Mythic+ when Midnight Season 2 begins one week later.
Altar of Fangs is expected to function as the signature dungeon of Season 2, offering new encounters, loot and environmental mechanics connected to the Coiled Isle.
Because it will be unfamiliar to every player, learning its routes, dangerous trash abilities and boss mechanics should be a top priority during the opening week.
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Dungeon Rotation
Midnight Season 2 features eight Mythic+ dungeons: five from Midnight and three returning instances from previous expansions.
Dungeon | Category |
|---|
Altar of Fangs | New Patch 12.1 dungeon |
Murder Row | Midnight dungeon |
Den of Nalorakk | Midnight dungeon |
The Blinding Vale | Midnight dungeon |
Voidscar Arena | Midnight dungeon |
King’s Rest | Returning dungeon |
Ruby Life Pools | Returning dungeon |
Temple of Sethraliss | Returning dungeon |
The complete rotation has been available for Mythic+ testing on the PTR.
Altar of Fangs
The only completely new dungeon in the rotation will likely receive the most attention during the first weeks.
Route knowledge will initially be limited, meaning groups that quickly identify efficient trash pulls and safe boss strategies will have a major advantage.
Murder Row
Murder Row returns from Midnight’s existing dungeon lineup.
Groups should review dangerous enemy casts and determine which sections benefit most from coordinated crowd control, offensive dispels and defensive cooldowns.
Den of Nalorakk
Den of Nalorakk places players against Amani-themed threats and is likely to reward teams with strong interrupts and controlled burst damage.
Its return should also connect naturally with the troll-focused story of Curse of Ula’tek.
The Blinding Vale
The Blinding Vale returns for another Mythic+ rotation with new seasonal scaling and tuning.
Players familiar with the dungeon should still expect route and pull-size changes as enemy values are adjusted for Season 2.
Voidscar Arena
Voidscar Arena brings its combat-heavy structure into the Season 2 pool.
Its arena format may place greater emphasis on priority targeting, movement and surviving repeated waves rather than navigating a traditional dungeon layout.
King’s Rest
One of Battle for Azeroth’s most memorable dungeons returns.
King’s Rest is known for dangerous trash packs, strict boss execution and encounters capable of destroying unprepared groups. Interrupt assignments and defensive planning will be essential.
Ruby Life Pools
Ruby Life Pools returns from Dragonflight.
Its compact layout may produce fast completion times, but previous versions of the dungeon were known for intense magical damage and punishing boss mechanics. Healers should prepare for heavy group-wide pressure.
Temple of Sethraliss
Temple of Sethraliss also returns from Battle for Azeroth.
The dungeon combines serpent-themed environments, multi-target encounters and an unusual final-boss structure, making it an ideal thematic match for Curse of Ula’tek.
How to Prepare for Midnight Season 2 Mythic+
Before Season 2 begins, players should:
Learn the returning dungeon layouts.
Review boss abilities in King’s Rest, Ruby Life Pools and Temple of Sethraliss.
Configure interrupts, defensives and utility abilities in the Cooldown Manager.
Create separate talent loadouts for AoE and boss encounters.
Organize a consistent group whenever possible.
Keep multiple pieces with different secondary stats.
Prepare flasks, food, potions, enchants and repair funds.
Avoid assuming that Season 1 routes will remain optimal.
Test class changes before entering higher keys.
The first week should be treated as a learning period. Completing keys consistently will be more valuable than attempting routes designed for players with fully upgraded Season 2 equipment.
Three New Delves
Curse of Ula’tek adds three Delves:
The Ring of Glory
Gnarldor Isle
Venomfall Deeps
Venomfall Deeps will serve as the new Nemesis Delve.
When Midnight Season 2 begins, Bountiful Delves become available and players will be able to progress beyond Tier 7. Existing Midnight Delves will also receive new snake- and venom-themed variations.
Venomfall Deeps Nemesis Delve
The Nemesis Delve will function as one of the season’s main solo or small-group challenges.
Players should expect a stronger boss encounter, seasonal progression and rewards aimed at characters capable of completing the highest Delve tiers.
Successful players will need more than raw damage. Delves reward:
Defensive awareness.
Crowd control.
Consumable use.
Proper companion upgrades.
Movement and environmental awareness.
Talent builds designed for survival.
Lairs: A New Type of Boss Encounter
Lairs are an evolution of World of Warcraft’s traditional world-boss system.
Instead of waiting in an open-world area, players will enter an instanced location similar to a Delve. Lairs support selectable difficulty levels that scale up to flexible Mythic encounters for groups of approximately 15 to 25 players. A summoning stone will be positioned outside each Lair to make group formation easier.
This system addresses several common problems with world bosses:
Overcrowded open-world combat.
Excessive visual effects.
Faction and tagging complications.
Unpredictable group sizes.
Difficulty finding the boss location.
Limited control over encounter difficulty.
Lairs could become one of the most important long-term additions in Patch 12.1, especially for guilds that want raid-style encounters without committing to a complete raid night.
Prey Season 2
The Prey system returns with:
The updated season should give open-world players another repeatable progression path alongside Delves, Curse Surges and the Vaults of Atal’Utek.
Players pursuing higher Prey difficulties should prepare flexible builds rather than relying entirely on maximum-damage raid setups. Self-healing, interrupts and defensive abilities can become significantly more important in solo or small-group hunts.
New Class Sets and Balance Changes
Every specialization will receive new Venomous Abyss class-set bonuses.
These two-piece and four-piece effects are designed around core rotational abilities, with several bonuses modifying resource generation, major cooldowns, healing patterns or priority attacks. The sets are still undergoing significant PTR tuning, meaning players should avoid making final class rankings before the live patch arrives.
Player Health and Enemy Damage Increase
On the PTR, Blizzard increased maximum-level player health and enemy damage by 25%.
The goal is to make incoming damage less dependent on sudden, extreme spikes and give healers more time to react. Health consumables are also being adjusted to match the new health values.
This does not necessarily mean content will become 25% harder. Player health is increasing alongside enemy damage, and the final experience will depend on class tuning, encounter design and item-level progression.
Smoother Damage Profiles
Several specializations are receiving adjustments intended to reduce the difference between damage dealt during major cooldowns and damage dealt during the rest of the rotation.
Blizzard’s stated goal is to preserve exciting cooldown moments while preventing classes from feeling weak or incomplete whenever those cooldowns are unavailable.
Season 2 Gearing Changes
Curse of Ula’tek includes several important adjustments to raid rewards, the Great Vault, the Catalyst and Nebulous Voidcores.
Improved Raid Great Vault Rewards
Under the current PTR system:
Raid Finder, Normal and Heroic Great Vault rewards move to the first upgrade step of the next track.
A Heroic raid Vault reward, for example, begins at Myth 1/6.
Mythic raid Vault rewards begin at Myth 6/6.
Very Rare items and loot from the final two Mythic bosses can reach the equivalent of Myth 9.
These changes are intended to make raid progression more competitive with Mythic+ as a source of high-level equipment.
Nebulous Voidcores
Season 1 Nebulous Voidcores will be converted into gold when the season ends.
New Nebulous Voidcores will be available through the Great Vault from the beginning of Season 2. The cost of rolling for a raid item is also being reduced from two Voidcores to one.
Players should therefore spend any Season 1 Voidcores they still need before the seasonal transition rather than expecting to carry them into the new progression cycle.
Catalyst Changes
Class-set pieces created through the Catalyst will inherit the secondary and tertiary stats of the original item.
Certain special item effects, including compatible cantrip effects, may also remain after conversion. This creates more control over stat optimization but means players will need to pay closer attention to the base item they place into the Catalyst.
A poorly itemized piece will no longer automatically transform into the standard secondary-stat distribution associated with that tier slot.
Ascendant Venomstones
Later in the season, Ascendant Venomstones will provide another form of high-end item progression.
According to the current plan, they can be earned from activities including:
Heroic and Mythic raid bosses.
Mythic+ dungeons at level 10 or higher.
Tier 11 Bountiful Delves.
Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion reward boxes.
Ten Ascendant Venomstones will be required to upgrade an eligible piece. Weapons, trinkets and necklaces are among the planned upgrade options.
Midnight PvP Season 2
Midnight Season 2 launches a new rated PvP season with a fresh progression ladder and seasonal rewards.
Curse of Ula’tek also expands Training Grounds to include battles against computer-controlled opponents in Arenas. Players can queue for Random Arenas with up to two other players through the PvP section of the Group Finder.
This gives newer players a safer environment to:
Learn Arena positioning.
Practice crowd-control chains.
Test macros and keybinds.
Coordinate defensive cooldowns.
Experiment with unfamiliar specializations.
Practice before entering rated matches.
PvP crowd-control diminishing returns are also being adjusted on the PTR, with the reset timer increasing from 16 to 20 seconds for Season 2.
Major Housing Updates
Patch 12.1 introduces the largest expansion of Midnight’s Housing system so far.
Housing Blueprints
Players will be able to save complete Housing layouts as Blueprints.
Blueprints can include:
The entire house.
Only the interior.
Only the exterior.
A single room.
Blueprint codes can be shared with other players across supported regions. The import interface displays required rooms, missing decorations and the necessary budget before applying the layout.
Players can maintain up to 50 manual Blueprint slots and 10 additional automatic backups. These auto-saves are created when importing layouts, making it easier to reverse unwanted changes.
Pets Inside Player Houses
Pet Beds allow players to assign companion pets to their homes.
The current PTR limits allow:
Up to 10 Pet Beds inside.
Up to five Pet Beds outside.
Stationary or roaming behavior for indoor pets.
Stationary placement for outdoor pets.
A small number of pets may be unavailable due to technical or visual restrictions.
Four New Neighborhood Endeavors
Curse of Ula’tek introduces four new Endeavors:
Knock-off Amani
Every Bakar Has Its Day
Candle Culture
Vacation Season
Completed Endeavors may also produce visible changes around the Neighborhood, giving communities additional reasons to participate together.
Higher House Levels
Player houses can reach Level 12, unlocking larger limits and bigger exterior options.
Players can also reposition their entry room—including moving it to another floor—allowing for more creative layouts and basement-style entrances.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
Curse of Ula’tek includes multiple interface and accessibility changes.
Confirmed PTR additions include:
Account-wide Auto Loot settings.
More options in the Cooldown Manager.
Trackable racial abilities.
Movable Loss of Control display.
Ranged-weapon transmog illusions.
Improvements to Housing dyes.
Additional Cooldown Manager pings.
Battle.net and Discord guild-chat integration.
The Discord feature will allow eligible players to communicate with guildmates between World of Warcraft and connected Discord channels, making group coordination easier outside the game.
How to Prepare for WoW Midnight Season 2
Finish Your Season 1 Objectives
Complete any remaining seasonal achievements, rankings and exclusive reward requirements before Season 2 arrives.
Blizzard has already warned players that the window for Midnight Season 1 rewards is closing.
Spend Season 1 Nebulous Voidcores
Season 1 Voidcores will not transfer into the new progression cycle. Use them on any remaining Season 1 targets before they are converted into gold.
Reach Level 90
Bring important characters and potential alts to the current level cap before the season launches.
The opening week is better spent unlocking the new zone, learning Altar of Fangs and preparing for the raid than completing old leveling content.
Prepare Multiple Talent Builds
Create separate builds for:
Season 2 introduces several different types of content, and one universal build will rarely be optimal everywhere.
Organize Consumables and Gold
Stock or budget for:
Flasks.
Combat potions.
Healing potions.
Food.
Enchants.
Gems.
Crafted items.
Repairs.
Profession orders.
Prices often rise at the beginning of a new season as players compete for upgrades and raid preparation materials.
Clean Your Inventory
Remove unnecessary Season 1 gear, outdated consumables and duplicate items.
Keep potentially useful gear with alternative secondary stats, especially because the updated Catalyst can preserve the stats of converted pieces.
Find a Guild or Regular Group
Season 2 offers content for every group size, from solo Delves to 25-player Mythic Lairs.
Having a consistent community will make it easier to complete:
Raid progression.
Mythic+ keys.
Lairs.
Housing Endeavors.
Prey hunts.
Rated PvP.
Is WoW Midnight Season 2 Worth Returning For?
Midnight Season 2 looks especially promising for players who enjoy having several parallel progression paths.
Raiders receive an eight-boss raid and stronger Great Vault rewards. Mythic+ players get an entirely refreshed dungeon rotation. Solo players receive new Delves, Prey hunts and Coiled Isle activities. Guilds gain Lairs, expanded Housing and cross-platform Discord communication.
The season should be worth returning for if you want:
A new raid tier.
A fresh Mythic+ meta.
Difficult solo progression.
Better raid gearing.
More troll and serpent lore.
Expanded player Housing.
New seasonal class sets.
Additional open-world group content.
Players interested only in final class rankings should wait until tuning is closer to completion. PTR damage values and tier-set bonuses remain highly unstable.
