What is a Strategist in Marvel Rivals?
Strategist is the support role in Marvel Rivals. Strategists heal allies and boost or protect the team, and many have some of the most powerful ultimates in the game. Their job is to keep teammates alive and turn fights with well-timed abilities. Examples include Loki, Mantis, Rocket Raccoon and Luna Snow.
What a Strategist does
- Heal: keep the Vanguard and the rest of the team healthy through long fights.
- Enable: buffs, utility and protection help teammates play more aggressively.
- Save ultimates for key moments: a defensive ultimate can cancel the enemy’s big play.
- Watch your position: Strategists are prime targets, so stay where your team can protect you.
Example
The enemy uses a damage ultimate on your team at the objective. Instead of panicking, you use your defensive ultimate at the right moment, your team survives, and your Duelists win the fight that follows.
Common mistakes
- Only healing: many Strategists can also deal damage when the team is healthy.
- Standing too far forward: an enemy flanker will punish a Strategist who is out of position.
- Using the ultimate too early: timing it with the enemy’s key ability often wins more fights.
