What is the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact?
The Spiral Abyss is a permanent combat domain in Genshin Impact, unlocked at Adventure Rank 20. You fight through floors of chambers, earning Abyssal Stars by clearing challenges quickly. It has two parts: the Abyss Corridor, whose rewards never reset, and the Abyssal Moon Spire, which changes and resets its rewards every month on the 16th.
How the Spiral Abyss is structured

Each floor has three chambers. You earn up to three Abyssal Stars per chamber, mostly by finishing within the time limit, and you need enough stars on a floor to move on to the next one.
Two teams, two halves
Many chambers are split into a first half and a second half. You need two separate teams, and the same character can’t be used in both. That makes the Spiral Abyss a test of your whole roster, not just your strongest four characters.
Rules that change the fight
- Ley Line Disorders: each floor has its own buffs or debuffs for characters, enemies or both.
- Blessing of the Abyssal Moon: a buff for the current period that rewards certain reactions or play styles.
- Locked setup: while you clear a floor’s chambers in a row, you can’t change party members, swap weapons or artifacts, eat food or level up characters.
Example
Floor 12’s first half favours one element and the second half another. You build a team for each half around those Ley Line Disorders, make sure no character is in both, and clear each chamber with time to spare to earn all the stars.
Rewards

Frequently Asked Questions
When does the Spiral Abyss reset?
The Abyssal Moon Spire (floors 9–12) resets every month on the 16th, when a new Lunar Phase begins. The Abyss Corridor (floors 1–8) does not reset.
Can I use the same character in both halves?
No. When a chamber has two halves, each half needs its own team with different characters.
