What are PlayStyles in EA FC?
PlayStyles are special traits that give a player abilities beyond their attributes, such as curling finesse shots better or keeping speed while dribbling. Each one also has an elite version, PlayStyle+, that makes the effect much stronger. Introduced in FC 24, they are one of the main reasons two cards with similar ratings can feel completely different in a match.

PlayStyle vs. PlayStyle+
A regular PlayStyle gives a noticeable advantage in one action. A PlayStyle+ gives an elite version of the same effect and is shown with a gold outline on the card. PlayStyles+ are rarer and often decide whether a card is meta: a striker with Finesse Shot+ or a midfielder with Quick Step+ can outperform higher-rated cards without them.
Why PlayStyles matter in Ultimate Team
- They shape the [meta](term:meta). Each edition, a few PlayStyles+ become must-haves, and cards with them cost much more.
- They can be added. Evolutions and some special cards add new PlayStyles or upgrade them to PlayStyle+.
- They are balanced in patches. EA regularly buffs or nerfs PlayStyles, changing which cards are strong.
- They matter when choosing rewards. Before completing an SBC, check which PlayStyles the player has, not only the rating.
Example
Two strikers are rated 88. One has Finesse Shot+, the other only regular Power Shot. In games, the first scores far more from the edge of the box with curled shots, so it becomes the popular choice and its price on the market rises.
PlayStyles and chemistry
PlayStyles do not depend on chemistry: a player keeps them even with 0 chem. Chemistry Styles, however, only boost attributes when the player has chemistry, so good squads combine both.
