What Is an Entry Frag in Valorant and CS2?
The first kill when a team enters a bombsite, and the player whose job is to take that opening duel.
What is an entry frag?
An entry frag is the first kill a team gets when it pushes into a bombsite. The entry fragger is the player who goes in first to take that opening duel, creating space so the rest of the team can follow and take control of the site.
Why the opening kill matters
Rounds in tactical shooters are often decided by the first duel. Winning it turns a five-versus-five into a five-versus-four, and the defenders have to rotate and react instead of holding their positions.
The entry fragger’s role
- Go in first with confidence, clearing the most common angles quickly.
- Use utility or ask for it: flashes, smokes and abilities make the entry much safer.
- Make space even when dying. An entry who dies but reveals enemy positions has still done the job, as long as a teammate trades.
In Valorant, duelists are the agents designed for this role, with abilities to dash, blind or survive the first fight. In CS2, entry is a role a player takes on, usually with flashes from teammates.
The trade
An entry only works if a teammate is right behind, ready to trade: kill the enemy who just killed the entry. Without a trade, the team simply loses a player.
Example
Your duelist dashes onto site behind a flash and kills the defender on the default spot. The second player clears the next angle, and your team plants with a numbers advantage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is entry fragging only about kills?
No. Creating space and giving information can be just as valuable. A good entry who dies but gets traded often wins the round for the team.
Which stat shows entry performance?
Stat sites usually track first kills, first deaths and opening duels won. Damage stats like ADR help too.
