Updated on: 13.08.2026•By:The darkness has officially arrived.
Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 is now live, bringing a new playable hero, fresh cosmetics, free rewards, Twitch Drops and some surprisingly significant technical improvements to NetEase Games' superhero shooter.
The headline addition is easily The Hood, the latest Marvel character to join the ever-growing roster. But Season 9.5 isn't just about adding another hero to the battlefield — there's plenty waiting for players who jump back into the game.
Here's everything you need to know about Marvel Rivals Season 9.5.

Parker Robbins has entered the Chronoverse.
Better known as The Hood, the Marvel villain brings his mix of street-level crime and dark supernatural power to Marvel Rivals as the newest playable hero.
His arrival gives Season 9.5 its biggest attraction and adds yet another unconventional Marvel character to a roster that continues to dig deeper into comic-book history instead of relying exclusively on the usual Avengers and X-Men heavy hitters.
There's also new lore accompanying his debut.
Season 9.5 adds “Carved in Stone,” a new story focused on The Hood, alongside “Faces of the Moon,” a new Moon Knight story.
If you've been following Marvel Rivals' increasingly chaotic multiversal storyline, there's more narrative fuel here as well as a new character to master.

Free cosmetics? Say less.
The new Creed of Akabba seasonal event gives players a chance to unlock The Punisher's Sandstorm Soldier costume for free by completing event missions.
There are additional premium rewards available through Units, but the Punisher costume itself gives players a solid reason to jump in and start clearing objectives.
For anyone who loves grinding limited-time Marvel Rivals events without opening their wallet, this is one of the biggest Season 9.5 highlights.
Season 9.5 also launches a fresh wave of Marvel Rivals Twitch Drops.
This time, Elsa Bloodstone takes the spotlight with her Will of Galacta costume and related cosmetic rewards.
The Twitch Drops campaign runs from August 7 through September 4, 2026, giving players several weeks to grab the rewards by watching eligible Marvel Rivals streams.
If you're already planning to watch high-level players figure out The Hood's place in the meta, you might as well earn some cosmetics at the same time.
Marvel Rivals' store is getting a useful change with the introduction of PYO — Pick Your Own — Bundles.
Instead of being forced into one predefined package, players can select the specific costumes and Emote Emojis they want included. The price automatically adjusts depending on the selected items.
NetEase says equivalent PYO content retains the same adaptive pricing as previous standard bundles.
Season 9.5 launches the system with several new cosmetics, including:
The Hood — Sinful Blackout Bundle
Iron Fist — Furious Flow Bundle
Moon Knight — Fist of Khonshu Bundle
The Hood — Oblivion's Whisper
New Iron Fist Chromas and Ultimate Ability VFX
The Hood — Madrecita Plush accessory
It's not a complete transformation of the Marvel Rivals store, but giving players more control over what they're actually buying is a welcome change.
One of the most underrated additions in the Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 update has nothing to do with heroes or skins.
NetEase has optimized the game's texture compression system across multiple platforms, significantly reducing its storage footprint after installation.
The expected reductions are huge:
PC: approximately 30% smaller
PS5: approximately 20% smaller
Xbox Series X|S: approximately 20% smaller
PS4: approximately 7% smaller
For a live-service game that's going to keep adding characters, maps, cosmetics and events for years, cutting the installation size this dramatically is a seriously good quality-of-life improvement.
Your SSD can finally breathe a little.
Marvel Rivals continues turning its social spaces into actual Marvel attractions.
From August 7 through August 27, players can head to the viewing area in Times Square to watch clips from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Watch the screening continuously for two minutes and you'll unlock an exclusive Spray.
Clips from Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: The Winter Soldier will alternate throughout the event.
It's a small addition compared to The Hood, but it continues one of Marvel Rivals' coolest trends: making the game feel like a constantly evolving Marvel universe rather than just a menu between matches.
Naturally, the update includes another batch of fixes.
NetEase addressed issues involving heroes such as Peni Parker, Rocket Raccoon, Cloak & Dagger and Namor, alongside problems affecting maps including Thebes and Times Square.
One particularly relevant fix addresses an interaction involving Cloak & Dagger and The Hood's Team-Up, where Cloak could occasionally lose access to Terror Cape.
These aren't the flashy additions that'll dominate trailers, but they should make the overall Season 9.5 experience cleaner as players dive into the new content.
If you've taken a break from Marvel Rivals, Season 9.5 looks like a pretty good excuse to come back.
The Hood is obviously the star of the update, but there's enough happening around his debut to make this feel like more than a simple mid-season character drop.
You've got a new hero to learn, a free Punisher costume to unlock, Elsa Bloodstone Twitch Drops to collect, new cosmetics, fresh lore and a substantially smaller installation footprint.
And with Season 9 having already introduced Jubilee and a major overhaul to the Team-Up system, Marvel Rivals is maintaining an aggressive pace of new content.
The real question now?
Where will The Hood land in the meta once players figure out exactly how dangerous his dark magic can be?
One thing is certain: the Chronoverse just got a lot darker.
Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 launched on August 7, 2026, following scheduled server maintenance.
The Hood, also known as Parker Robbins, is the new hero introduced with Season 9.5.
Yes. Players can complete missions during the Creed of Akabba event to earn The Punisher's Sandstorm Soldier costume for free.
The new Twitch Drops feature Elsa Bloodstone's Will of Galacta costume and related cosmetic content. The campaign runs until September 4, 2026.
NetEase expects the installed game size to decrease by approximately 30% on PC, 20% on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and 7% on PS4 thanks to optimized texture compression.
Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 is now live with The Hood, a free Punisher skin, new Twitch Drops, cosmetics, performance improvements and more.
