Genshin Impact 7.1: New Characters, Anniversary Rewards & Everything New
Genshin Impact Version 7.1 is officially live, and A Rekviem for the Underworld pushes the Snezhnaya storyline into one of its biggest chapters yet.
Released on September 23, the update brings two new 5-star characters, Vesna and Vodyanitsa, major Archon Quest developments, anniversary rewards, new events, weapons and fresh updates for both the Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theater.
Whether you are here for the story, Primogems, new characters or endgame content, there is a lot happening in Genshin Impact 7.1.
Here is everything you need to know.
Vesna Joins Genshin Impact as a New 5-Star Anemo Character
One of the biggest additions in Version 7.1 is Vesna, the Commander of the Druzhna and one of the Tsaritsa's most trusted blades.
Vesna is a 5-star Anemo Sword character built around the new Star Swirl reaction mechanics.
Her kit allows teammates to trigger Star Swirl reactions, while Vesna can also deal Star Swirl damage herself under specific conditions.
That makes her particularly interesting for players building around Anemo reactions and the expanding Snezhnaya combat systems.
Vesna's arrival also makes her one of the central characters of the new Version 7.1 storyline, giving players another major reason to explore the latest Archon Quests.
Vodyanitsa Brings New Hydro Support Options
Version 7.1 also introduces Vodyanitsa, another new 5-star character.
Vodyanitsa is a Hydro Catalyst user and the prima donna of the Korolevskiy Troupe.
Her kit combines healing and support, with strong synergy in both Freeze and Swirl teams.
While Vesna focuses more heavily on Anemo reaction damage, Vodyanitsa offers a flexible support option for Travelers looking to build new team compositions around Hydro interactions.
Together, Vesna and Vodyanitsa are likely to be two of the main characters shaping the early Genshin Impact 7.1 meta.
Snezhnaya's Story Moves Into a New Stage
The real highlight of Version 7.1 may be its story.
The Snezhnaya Archon Quest continues with two new chapters:
Chapter VII – Act III: White Night, Like Awakening From a Dream
Chapter VII – Act IV: A Rekviem for the Underworld
The Traveler is drawn deeper into Snezhnaya's conflict as the region prepares to confront forces connected to the Heavenly Principles.
The threat of Ronova, the Ruler of Death, becomes increasingly important, while the Tsaritsa's plans and the arrival of other powerful figures push the storyline toward a much larger confrontation.
For players following Genshin's main lore, Version 7.1 is much more than a normal character update.
Snezhnaya's story is starting to move fast.
Genshin Impact Anniversary Rewards Are Huge
Version 7.1 also arrives alongside Genshin Impact's sixth anniversary, bringing some of the most attractive rewards of the update.
Players can obtain rewards including:
1,600 Primogems
10 Intertwined Fates
Anniversary login rewards
Additional materials and resources
A reset of the first Genesis Crystal Top-Up Bonus
Special 5-star character invitation rewards
There are also additional anniversary gifts distributed through events and in-game mail.
For players saving Primogems for Vesna, Vodyanitsa or future Genshin Impact banners, this is one of the best opportunities of the year to build up wishes without spending additional resources.
New Weapons Arrive in Version 7.1
Genshin Impact 7.1 also expands the weapon pool with several new options.
Among them is the new limited 5-star Sword designed around Vesna's reaction-focused gameplay.
The update also introduces additional weapons that interact with Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge and the new reaction mechanics introduced around Snezhnaya.
There is also a new event-exclusive 4-star Sword available through the Version 7.1 event content.
For players planning to build Vesna or experiment with new Star Swirl compositions, weapon choice could play an important role in maximizing the new reaction system.
Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon Event
The Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event is one of the major limited-time activities in Genshin Impact 7.1.
Players can progress through the event to earn rewards such as:
Primogems
Crown of Insight
Character and weapon materials
Mora
An event-exclusive 4-star Sword
Weapon refinement materials
Events like this are always worth completing while they are available, especially for players who want to maximize their Version 7.1 resources.
The exclusive weapon and its refinement materials may also become unavailable once the event ends.
Spiral Abyss Changes in Genshin Impact 7.1
Endgame players also have a new Spiral Abyss rotation to prepare for.
The next major Abyss update arrives on October 16.
Floor 11 will heavily favor Anemo and Cryo damage, while Floor 12 introduces powerful bonuses that interact with newer reaction mechanics and Cryo compositions.
The enemy lineups on Floors 11 and 12 are also being updated.
This means that teams which dominated previous Abyss rotations may not necessarily be the best option this time around.
Players aiming for a full clear will want to reconsider their team compositions, elemental coverage and reaction setups before entering the new Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss.
Imaginarium Theater Gets New Rotations
The Imaginarium Theater also receives new seasonal rotations during Version 7.1.
The October 1 season focuses on:
Opening Characters include names such as Neuvillette, Barbara, Citlali, Kaeya and Wanderer, alongside other available characters.
A second rotation arrives on November 1, switching the available elements to:
That lineup includes characters such as Yelan, Fischl, Zhongli and Kachina, with additional Special Guest Stars available.
Because the Imaginarium Theater limits which elements and characters can be used, having a wide and properly built roster remains extremely important.
More Version 7.1 Content
Beyond the headline additions, Genshin Impact 7.1 includes plenty of smaller updates.
Travelers can also expect:
New World Quests
New achievements
New character specialties
Additional teleport points in Snezhnaya
New Genius Invokation TCG cards
New gameplay stages
New recipes
New cosmetics and customization content
Quality-of-life improvements
Bug fixes and combat optimizations
It is a surprisingly packed update, especially considering how much of the spotlight is already taken by the new characters and Snezhnaya storyline.
Is Genshin Impact 7.1 Worth Playing?
Absolutely — especially if you have been following the Snezhnaya storyline.
Version 7.1 combines several major pieces of content at once:
Vesna and Vodyanitsa, anniversary rewards, new Archon Quests, limited events, Spiral Abyss changes and new Imaginarium Theater rotations.
For casual players, the free Primogems and anniversary rewards alone make it worth logging in.
For endgame players, the new Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theater rotations create another reason to optimize teams and push deeper into Genshin's hardest content.
And for lore fans, the growing conflict surrounding Snezhnaya may be the biggest reason of all.
